RELEASE NOTES for TaxGeek06d TaxGeek06d is a major release with *numerous* bug fixes, more extensive testing based on the IRS PATS (Participants Acceptance TeSting) test input suite, and more forms supported. What's New: - COMMAS! We now have commas splitting up the numbers in the output PDF files. This increases readibility and makes things much nicer looking. - A slightly new look to the program which may or may not be an improvement. - Context-sensitive help wired directly to the IRS website has been added to nearly all forms. This should help quite a lot with some of your questions. - Form 8853 (Archer MSAs) and many of its intricacies are now supported. - Form 2106 and 2106ez (Employee Business Expenses) now flow through automatically to Schedule A or Form 1040 dependent on the situation. - Form 8812 (Additional Child Credit) is now supported. - Form 4952 (Investment Interest) is now supported from Schedule A. - The Child Credit WorkSheet now autocalculates on opening. - The Child Credit WorkSheet is now a switchable form and supports the computations from publication 972 when needed. - The following forms which may have multiple instances are now supported with a new and more intuitive user interface: - W2 - Schedule C - Schedule SE - 8853 Section B - 8853 Part II - The internal tracking of forms has been updated so that only those forms that are used will show up in the PDF list. Additionally, they will be sorted alpha-numerically instead of the pseudo-random manner that occured in the past (this was caused by the black-arts involved in how XUL lists directories). - AND by popular request, TaxGeek will now round to the nearest dollar if so desired! Bug Fixes: There are too many fixes to list at this point. However, because of extensive user testing, (Thanks Gary and George!), and the PATS testing, TaxGeek06d has a much improved user experience. What didn't make it in: Overrides. I know I've been promising this, but when I implement it, I'd like to do it correctly so that it's easy to implement or extend with new forms.
