RELEASE NOTES for TaxGeek06c This is a major release involving rewrites of large sections of code and numerous bug fixes. Features Added In addition to the usual bug fixes (this time, there are many!), version 06c brings about support for Forms 2106 and 2106ez for the documentation of employee business expenses, a decrease in package size by relying on downloads of IRS pdfs directly from the IRS web site, and an enhanced recalculation ability. Form 1040 was designed to be done by hand, originally. As such, attached forms and schedules should not, as a rule, change previously calculated values. In other words, simultaneous change of multiple values makes a problem too difficult to do by hand. So with very few exceptions, values that are calculated properly (in the order presented on the form) will result in proper calculations of subsequent values. In the past TaxGeek supported this method of calculation only. If you went out of order on your tax return, not all values in all forms were correctly changed. Starting with TaxGeek06c, much of this has been addressed. Also, a link to online alerts (read: bugs) in the program has been added so that users may be alerted to problems with forms in between releases. Bugs Fixed - Form 1040 Registration adjusted - Form 3903 Registration adjusted - Form W2 error in reading box 11 due to bad index - Form 8863 was improperly calculating line 1d, and automatically assumed that everyone was a GOZ student.
