Test Fest

Blow-by-blow bugs or links to the tracker will be posted here on April 10 and 11, 2007 so that users can be kept up to date. As we have finished checking everything, we will apply all patches to TaxGeek06e and make our final pre-April 17th release. Also, file colors will change to green when we believe they have passed muster. Update As of April 16, many of the files have been audited. Files that were changed in the recent past or which had bug reports or other reasons to inspect took priority. Just because a file is listed as red, does not mean that it is unsatisfactory at this point. It only means that detailed auditing was not yet done.

Some critical updates regarding Qualified Dividends without using Schedule D

Oddly in many cases there does not seem to be a change...Run down why before final release!

1098.htm Works. We have elected to refer the user to publication 936 in any complicated case. If things are straight-forward, 1098 will work just fine. If not, until over-rides are introduced, the user with a more complicated situation will be unable to use TaxGeek properly (although there may be work-arounds).

1098c.htm Works. If a donation of more than $500 is made, user is told to use from 8283 (informational - to help IRS certify that donation is legit) both from 1098c, and from Schedule A, line 16 where these values flow to.

1098e.htm This passes values to the student loan interest deduction worksheet on the condition that the individual chooses to use the interest expenses there instead of taking other education credits. Will not function without a proper SSN entered.
